This page is a review of my top five movies.

1. Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron: This movie follows the life a wild mustang during the pioneer age of America as he is taken from his homeland and forced to work. The mustang is nearly tamed by an Army General, but luck would have it that a young, Native American is also captured at the same camp. Together they escape and return home. Through the horse's journey, he finds his true love and together they return to his family and homeland. The voice of the stallion is Matt Damon and the directors of the film are Lorna Cook and Kelly Asbury. This is my all time favorite movie and I recommend it to everyone who asks. The soundtrack is amazing and the animation is superb. It is a story about the true American spirit that can never be broken.

2. Pocahontas: The colanial era in America is when this movie is set. A beautiful, Native American girl is next inline to lead her people when white settlers come to her home looking for gold. She meets John Smith and tells him there is no gold. They fall in love, but her father, the chief, does not approve. John Smith is captured and his fellow commrands rush to help him ready to fight. If it was not for Pocahontas sacrificing herself to protect John Smith and convincing the war-driven new comers to lower their weapons, all would have been lost. John Ralph, the greedy, evil in this story, refuses to go quiety and trys to shoot the chief, but John Smith takes the bullet instead. John Smith, severly wounded, must return to England for proper care while John Ralph returns in chains. Pocanhontas desides to stay with her people and lead them, so the two lovers part ways. Pocahontas is voiced by Irene Bedard and the movie is directed by Eric Goldberg and Mike Gabriel. This movie and the next both have strong, female leads and I always love a good movie with headstrong girls who know what they want. The soudtrack, to any Disney movie, is great and the art is breathtaking. I really love this movie because it doesn't follow the traditional Disney princess who can't save herself. Pocahontas ends up saving John Smith, the prince in this story. I would definetly recommend this movie to any young girl so she can see that she doesn't need a prince to save her, she can save herself and others.

3. Mulan: The story of Mulan takes place in the Northern Wei dynastery or between 386 and 534. During this time, China is fighting the invaders known as the Huns. Mulan's father is called into battel, but he has already served and was woundered. Mulan tricks her family and goes to war in her father's stead. She desguises herself as a man, since women were not allowed to fight, and goes to war. She kills many of the Huns, but she is wounded and the doctor is forced to reveal her identity. She is left to find her way home alone, but notices that not all the Huns are dead. Several of them survived and head to the palace to kill the Emperor. Mulan recruits her fellow soldiers and together they defeat the Huns and bring safety back to China. She is given many gifts by the Emperor. She returns home to her father and he is overjoyed to see her. During the war, Mulan had captured the attention of the General's son and they are later wed. Mulan herslef is voiced by actriss Ming-Na Wen and the film was directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook. The lengend of Mulan, as I said before, has been around for many years. The fact that a story with such a strong and independ women was around from such an early time in human history, is inspiring in and of itself. The music and animation are great, thanks to Disney and their incredible team. I recommend this movie to anyone who needs to know they are not the only one struggling with identity issues. Also, Mushu is hilarious!

4. The Martian: The main character in The Martain is Mark Watney, who is played by Matt Damon. This movie takes place in 2035 and follows the crew of about seven astronauts as they explore the planet Mars. The mission goes well until a sandstorm seperates the team and Watney is lost. The team waits a few days, but later desides that Watney couldn't have survived the sandstorm. They leaves Mars because their mission has a time limit and they must return before the limit or be trapped on Mars for an undeterminable amount of time. Watney had, infact, survived the storm, but was now stuck on Mars. Luckily, the team had build a shelter that he could live in. He had to find a way to grow his own food, make his own power, and send a signal back to Earth that he was alive and needed to be rescued. He sent the message and his team decided to turn around and go back for him. He made it home safely and became a symbol of heroism to all. The film is directed by Ridley Scott. This movie was amazing to see in theaters and Matt Damon does an amazing job. I highly recommend this to everyone because the science and math in it is not too difficult to understand and you end up learning some interesting facts. For instance, you can actually survie on potatoes alone.

5. The Avengers: This movie was directed by Joss Whendon and is part of the Marvel franchise. This is the first movie where Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow all team up. This team is created because Loki, Thor's brother, is attenpting to take over Earth with his powerful weapon called the tesseract. He can do virtually anything with this power and decides to summon an army to fight the Avengers and capture Earth for his own. The team faces hardships, but eventually comes together to save New York City and the world. They go back to their normal lives once the world is safe and continue to watch over Earth everyday. Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, is played by Scarlett Johansson. This movie is great for any superhero movie lover and has led me to many fun and enjoyable nights. I recommend that all Marvel fans watch this movie. If you like stuff blowing up and the Hulk smashing things, you will love this movie.
